Saturday! Saturday! Saturday!
Come out to the club tonight for a great night of music. The show will start out with up-and-coming local act World’s First Flying Machine. They always put on an exciting show and quite possibly use the most unique combination of instruments in town. Make sure to get there early for those guys.
Cincinnati, OH act Pomegranates will also be playing some tunes. They opened up for Santa a couple months ago at the Canopy and were quite entertaining. They play some extremely catchy pop music that really just puts a smile on your face. Check out their video for the song “Whom/who” below.
Local favorites Headlights will be capping off a great lineup of acts tonight. They’ve really been picking up some steam nationally after their great release last year. If you have yet to pick up “Some Racing, Some Stopping,” make sure to do so ASAP. Check out the video for “Cherry Tulips” and try not to tap your feet.
Why is it cold again?
I hated that tease of nice weather, but I guess I should have expected these 30 degree temperatures here in the midwest after a few nice days. You should probably come to the club, warm up, and check out some of the great shows we have going on this week. The heating system is amazing here.
Thursday will be a double dose of local shows, starting early for the I-Shag Benefit show. Local acts Organic Flow, The Brother Whys, Neoga Blacksmith, Carl Hauck and St. Louis artist John Krane will all be taking the stage at 6pm. Make sure to get out there early for this great event. That night will feature a great lineup of some other great local acts. Sunset Stallion headlines a lineup that includes Ohtis and Yossarian. The doors open at 10:30pm for that one.
Friday is a great night for entertainment in the area. Fishing With Dynamite will be making you laugh at 7pm, if you don’t find them funny than something’s wrong with ya. This will actually be one time that I understand if you don’t come to the Canopy Club to watch some comedy. The only catch is that you have to go to the IMC instead to watch the great Bonnie Prince Billy at 7pm. He just came out with another amazing album called “Beware”, it’s sure to be a great show.
Eclipse’s Pink Floyd Tribute will finish up Friday night at 10pm. They will be sure to impress. Tickets for that show are $10 in advance. That’s all for now, stay tuned for a preview of the great show we have lined up for Saturday night. Stay warm

Hopefully you were all able to wake up and recover by 630 to go see the early Murder By Death show last night. If not, you definitely missed out.
I got into the club right before Fake Problems hit the stage. Their show was absolutely great. Their sound is a bit difficult to describe, but I think the best I’ve heard is a bit more experimental Against Me! They played the majority of stuff from their latest record released on Side One Dummy Records. Make sure to check those guys out, you won’t be disappointed. Here’s to hoping they made it to their gig in Florida today on time.
Murder By Death’s show was exactly what I was hoping for when I heard about this tour. Original keyboardist Vincent Edwards joined the band to perform “Red of Tooth and Claw” and Who Will Survive…” in their entirety. I really enjoyed “Red of Tooth”, but it didn’t compare to how amazing the “Who Will Survive…” portion of the show was. There was a jump in the energy level, both from the band and the crowd. They then came out for an encore and played a couple other crowd favorites from their other releases, “Brother” and “Virginia Wolfe” if I remember correctly. It was an amazing show, definitely the best show I’ve seen before 10pm.
